Preparing for the visit

  • Previous test results, an EEG, an MRI (if you have them) and a list of the medications your child takes.
  • If there has been a seizure, shaking, a tic or a “spacing out” episode, a video taken on your phone.
  • For babies: a birth summary (weeks, weight, Apgar score) and the vaccination card.
  • For school-age children: a short note from the teacher and any concerns about the class schedule.
  • Do not bring your child hungry or sleep-deprived: the exam of a tired child gives less information. There are separate preparation guidelines for an EEG.

Emergencies

This website is not an emergency service. Call 103 immediately if a seizure continues (longer than 5 minutes), if there is loss of consciousness, if fever comes with a stiff neck, or if vomiting and drowsiness follow a head injury.

Frequently asked questions

Which days are visits?

Visit days and hours are confirmed by WhatsApp or phone. When you write, include your child's age and the time window that suits you.

Can a parent be present during the exam?

Yes. The exam takes place with a parent present; young children are usually examined in a parent's lap.

Is an online consultation possible?

The first exam has to be in person: a neurological exam cannot be replaced by video. An online connection can be arranged to discuss results and for follow-up.
